DMOZ

by Admin on May 6, 2011

Getting listed in DMOZ or the Open Directory Project is one of the better links to get from a web directory. There is certainly a lot of debate about the actual value of DMOZ and certainly a lot of spurious and unsubstantiated comments made in webmaster forums about the corruption at DMOZ. Its not worth sweating over. It does not take long to suggest a site. If you get a link, you get a link. If you do not get a link, the world will not end.

How to get listed:

  1. Have a site that is actually listable. It has to add value and be better than the sites already listed in the category
  2. Pick the one best category
  3. Write a guideline compliant description and title (check the sites already listed for examples)
  4. Submit once (any more than that can hurt you)
  5. Move on, as you have done all you can do.
